This week, Ms. Hollohan’s Biology 20 class teamed up with Mr. Graham’s Foods 30 students for a one-of-a-kind, hands-on learning experience—dissecting and cooking cow hearts! 🐄🌮 In Bio 20, students explored the structures and functions of the heart as part of their circulatory system unit. By examining real specimens, they gained a deeper understanding of how this vital organ works. The class also engaged in meaningful discussions around ethical meat sourcing, bringing in both Indigenous perspectives and viewpoints from local ranchers to explore sustainability and respect in food systems. 🌾🪶 Meanwhile, the Foods 30 students put their skills to the test in the Advanced Meat Cookery module—preparing and transforming the cow hearts into flavorful, protein-rich Cow Heart Tacos! 🌮🔥 This cross-curricular collaboration brought science, culture, ethics, and culinary arts together in a way that was both educational and unforgettable. 👏 Real learning. Real food. Real impact. 👏

We are so proud of this week's Head of the Herd, Claire Rankel! Claire is currently taking TWO dual-credit courses and is crushing it in both of them. Her grades in her BCHS courses are terrific as well. On top of that, Claire recently represented our school at Skills in Mechanics. Way to go, Claire!
